Born out of the psychedelic rock music of the 60s, the first known Gig Print was for a band called Charlatans performing in San Francisco in This poster is often referred to as "The Seed" and from all it took was a little psychedelic water to see this new art genre blossom!
What began as a way to promote an upcoming show has now evolved to be used to commemorate the performance. We now see gig prints for nearly every major performance, with some shows having multiple artists for a single show or creating individual works of art for each night for a multi-stay stand.
